An Important Discord (& Life) Update

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this. It has been a weird week and a half and it has led to some housekeeping on my end in hopes of obtaining some peace of mind.

The TL;DR version of all of this is that Discord access will only be accessible through the Bookworm or Weirdo tiers due to some increasing personal safety concerns. If you want to understand why I've made this change, read on.

Without getting into specifics, there has been a person physically lurking around me and my family over the last couple of weeks - a person we are no contact with since February 2024. With my job being YouTube, that puts me in a weird spot of trying to protect myself/my family while being in the proverbial limelight. (Alexa, play Caramel by Sleep Token) Anyway, they have been adamant about seeing me and more importantly, making sure I see them seeing me and it has been so bizarre to experience.

I know there are some places on the internet that people will always be able to access me, but I also know that I can control the amount of access they have (or at least make it harder for them to obtain.) This person is blocked on everything I'm able to block them on and has been since last February. You can't block people on YouTube but at least I know that if they go there seeking info, they will have to sit through hours of me yapping just to find maybe a sentence or two they actually care about.

I did not want to put my Discord behind a paywall because I believe that community should be accessible but in this case, I felt like I needed to make the change.

For those of you who are already on my Discord, your access won't be affected. I already spoke about this briefly to the people in my Discord but I wanted to make a more official post here for everyone to see just in case you stopped by and had questions.

Thanks for reading this, I appreciate you and your presence here.
I also don't wanna ramble about this and let that be all SO let's end this post with some book recs, yeah?

You by Caroline Kepnes*

Stalker, killer and all around unhinged maniac Joe Goldberg is so much worse on paper than he is in the show. The book is written entirely in second person POV so you are literally inside his mind for 400 pages and it is a sick place to be.
*I only really recommend book 1 because the rest of the series just got to be too much. I did binge them so maybe it was too much, too fast. Plus, the story kind of detailed for me. I don't know, I just did want to mention that but if you read the whole series, let me know what you think!

Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh

Admittedly, I have not read this one YET but it is on my short list to get around to this year. I even have a physical copy so you know I'm serious about it! A woman becomes obsessed with a new coworker and it gets weird (I'm told)

Big Swiss by Jen Beagin

I have read this one, we even read it together in our book club and the general consensus was that the characters were unlikable and the story was WEIRD but it was still a good time. A transcriptionist develops a strange fixation in one of the patients' voices on the tapes she transcribes and then their paths cross IRL. Whatever will come of this?!

Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson

This one was very validating, eye opening and just all around great for anyone who grew up in a chaotic environment. It is more psychological text and less "self helpy" and I appreciated the straightforward discussions of these kinds of dynamics.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you pick up any of these books and thanks so much for being a member of my community, a supporter of my work. It is so appreciated all the time but especially here lately. I can't say thank you enough.
